Biomedical sciences to medicine

I am planning to apply to do medicine in the future my plan is to do biomedical sciences and then do Graduate medicine but I'm worried that my a levels grade is too low I got DDD
Would I be fine if I apply for graduate med after biomedical sciences with a levels DDD(some unis don't look at your a levels they said on there entry requirements)
Or the other option is I retake my a level

Better to take a gap year and redo a levels

I dont think they look, if you get into biomedical science, and go through undergraduate programme medicine, they will accept if you really well in BSc biomedical science degree. Also one of my friends did biomedical science and did really well in her first year of the course and transferred to medicine. A levels is not important tbh, once your graduated noone looks at a levels, its your degree.

They will usually accept you do really well in UG and if you meet the other requirements, eg UCAT, pass an interivew. And UCAT requirements are often higher for grads than school leavers. Some GEM schools do not look at A levels, but some do. Transfer schemes are incredibly competitive and should not be relied upon as a route into medicine.
If you start another degree for the purpose of applying to GEM, make sure it is in something you are happy to do long term, as GEM is far more competitive than standard entry

hi i was planning on doing something similar. i got BDD in my a levels this year and was initially planning to resit and reapply for 2025 medicine entry. but i’ve been told that due to my achieved a levels med schools wont accept me and i’ll have to wait for 2026 entry with my new achieved grades. i wanted to know if this is true and would i be better off in getting a degree in psychology which i do quite enjoy and if i still want to do medicine later on apply for GEM. thank you

hi, im pretty sure you can still apply for 2025 entry if you get new predicted grades. As your school probs wont predict you AAA theres companies that do exams for private candidates which can predict you the grades you need, you just need to a mock exam with them and do good enough to prove you can acheive those grades.
then redo ur UCAT before the deadline (end of september), write ur personal statement and then revise for ur exams in summer.
