AAA for Magdalene. We have to make the Geoggers '09 year great, since Geographers know how to have some serious fun.

I think it is, yes.

My friend was pooled by them two years ago, for SPS, and then was pulled back out.

I just wish I knew my fate now. :p:
I met my 2009 offer for King's last year

- The standard offer for Cambridge is A*AA at A level so that is what you'd be aiming for.
- There's information on what Cambridge is looking for here http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/life/who.html
- Make sure that you know all your school work really well, get the best grades you can in your exams (they look at GCSE and AS scores too) and read around your subject.
- Read through the Cambridge Admissions site http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/index.html - that should answer most of your questions.

thank you sooo much mate!!!!!!!!!!! (y)

Hey, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any insight into what sort of questions they were asked at interview for geography? I can appreciate that it is always going to vary from person to person and obviously depends on who interviews you, but it would be good to know what other people have experienced  I'm really trying to find out what on earth to expect as I'm terrified! Thankyouu!
I got given a map of the Middle East and told "tell me about this map". That's about all I can remember...

Hello,

I am considering applying to Cambridge. My interest lies in the human geography side and I do not find the physical geography side at school very interesting at all.

The fact that I would have to do physical geography for 2 years concerns me.

What is the course like? Also how much work would it normally demand?

Thanks in advance

Just scanning the website it looks like you can get away with doing just 1 physical paper in the second year out of four. If you really dislike it, have you considered PPS? The way it physical geography is taught will probably be quite different to school and you might change your mind after first year.

How much work you put in depends on you and how much you want to pass/ how easy you find the course. It's a Cambridge degree, so you can assume it's going to be more work than other universities.

The first year you do an equal balance of human and physical papers (no choice involved). For the second year you can select 3 human and only 1 physical if you want. For the third year, I think you might be able to select all human (I forget exactly; you might have to do one physical again), and of course can specialise in your dissertation as well.

When I was there, there was a better range of human modules to choose from and generally that side of the course felt better supported than the physical. Don't know if this will have changed at all.

As to work, the workload for geog. at cambridge is a lot less than some subjects there, in terms both of supervision requirements and lecture load. But it's still pretty intense work, of course, in those short eight-week terms. How much work it actually demands in terms of hours per week varies so much by person it's not really worth making generalisations.
Who has an interview for Geography at Cambridge?? I don't really know how much to prepare!:woo:
