University opinions??

Looking into uni choices for a 2024 start, any opinions on the law courses in Wolverhampton and York as well as the general feel of the Uni's? Is it worth putting in applications in September or is it best to keep looking?
I think to start you need to look at what your potential A-level grades are going to be then work from there really. There’s a huge difference between Wolverhampton which really isn’t well known for many subjects, law being one of them, and York which is a decent Russell Group Uni with a unique way of approaching the teaching of law, more practical. Once you know a rough idea of your predictions you can start to look at Unis who are around those grades. It’s always worth spreading your applications. If you’re predicted A*s don’t just go for the top 4/5 as you could be disappointed due to competition. It’s usual rule of thumb as apply for 1/2 at your highest grades, 1/2 at your actual grades and one safety below. Realistically unless you’re a contextual student, applying to a competitive uni with lower than entry grades is going to get you rejected for law so make sure you consider carefully based on your predictions/what’s achievable.

Sounds like you’re not looking at LNAT unis but if you are I’d advise starting to practice it over the end summer and book it Sept and get it out of the way. Some people wait until later but year 13 can be full on.
Usually applying in Sept/Oct means you’re applying to Oxbridge which is an Oct deadline, other than that people apply right up the end Jan deadline. There is supposedly no benefit of doing an earlier application but law is so competitive, you can see some unis start giving out lots of offers Oct/Nov and then the offers get far
