MD IN Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary

Hello,
I live in the UAE, and I wish to study Medicine in one of the 3 countries mentioned above, I have however read many disconcerting opinions on Reddit
I would like to understand frankly, if the below universities are worthwhile considering
a. University of Debrechen
b. Semmelweis
c. Medical University of Warsaw
d. Jaggelonian University
e. Charles University 3 rd faculty
f. Charles University Hardec Kralov

1. Are the MD courses in these countries any good
2. Are international students treated well in these countries
3. Lifestyle differences between the 3 countries for new students
4. Clinical rotations and exams held by all 3 countries
5. Exam realities for all the above, as i hear some exams are unstructured and not systematic
6. Passing rates

I have applied to the same universities but I have similar doubts due to all the feedback on Reddit. However, most of these opinions are from 4-7 years ago so I'm hoping that things would have changed by now. I would also like to understand if these universities are worth considering so it would be greatly appreciated if someone could provide their input.

Hello JackBlacktheCat,
Each of the universities you mentioned is well-regarded, but they do offer distinct experiences in terms of education, student life, and clinical training. Let's address your queries one by one:

1.

Quality of MD Courses: All the universities you listed (University of Debrecen, Semmelweis University, Medical University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, and Charles University's 3rd Faculty and Hradec Králové) offer reputable MD programs. These programs are recognized internationally and are known for their rigorous curricula. Particularly, Semmelweis, Jagiellonian, and Charles University have long traditions in medical education and research.

2.

Treatment of International Students: Generally, international students are welcomed in Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic. However, as with any international study experience, it's crucial to engage with local culture and community. Each country offers support services for international students, but personal experiences can vary.

3.

Lifestyle Differences:

4.

Hungary: Budapest is vibrant and culturally rich, with a relatively low cost of living. Debrecen is quieter but offers a close-knit student community.

5.

Poland: Warsaw is a dynamic capital with a blend of modern and historical influences, offering various cultural activities. Krakow (where Jagiellonian University is located) is known for its historic architecture and student-friendly atmosphere.

6.

Czech Republic: Prague is lively and has an extensive expat community. Hradec Králové offers a more relaxed pace compared to Prague.

7.

Clinical Rotations and Exams: Clinical rotations are an integral part of the curriculum in all these countries, providing hands-on experience in various medical fields. The structure and evaluation methods during rotations can vary slightly between universities but generally adhere to European standards.

8.

Exam Realities: Examinations can indeed vary. Some students find certain exams unstructured, but this largely depends on the specific professors and departments. All the mentioned universities strive for a high academic standard, and exams are designed to rigorously test your knowledge and readiness for a medical career.

9.

Passing Rates: While specific passing rates can vary year by year and are not always publicly available, all these universities have high standards of education. The rigorous nature of the programs ensures that students who do pass are well-prepared for their medical careers.

Choosing the right university for your medical studies is a significant decision that should consider personal and academic fit. I recommend contacting the international student offices at these universities to get more detailed and specific information to help guide your decision.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Best of luck with your decision!
Best regards, Lea
