Need help on maths foundation question Gcse

Question:

Morgan makes 15 cakes.
Each cake needs a piece of ribbon 18cm long for decoration.

Ribbon is only sold in rolls of 1.2 metres, which can then be cut into 18cm pieces. One roll of ribbon costs 92p.

Calculate the cost of the ribbon that Morgan must buy to decorate 15 cakes.

Could someone please explain the process and HOW you got the answer. Thank you

Sure :smile: I tried my best i have my exam next week and trying to solve this question but cannot seem to understand at all...

15/18=0.83
18x1.2=21.6
21.6/18=1.2

92x15=1380
1.2x1380=8.69

£8.69

Steps:
Calculate the total ribbon needed
Calculate how much ribbon you need to buy to fulfil that requirement (there may be excess ribbon left over).
In this case you need to buy ribbon in the form of rolls, so multiply the cost per roll by however many you are buying to get the solution. :smile:
