What happens when you need to support yourself financially? Without any post-16 education (which not going to college would imply) your ability to earn enough to be financially independent of your parents will be limited.
Perhaps your question should have been, "Would you rather go to college in an attempt to gain access to jobs which pay better, or have free time now but risk a lifetime of low paying jobs?"
Of course some people manage to earn a decent income even with a limited education, but that is not the norm.
