French Question

Would afin que je puisse or afin que j’aie pu sound correct, or do they both work? Any preferences?
Thank you!

Well, you've got two different tenses there, so it depends on what you're trying to say.

Avant que je puisse - before I am / was able
Avant que j'aie pu - before I have been / had been able

So it's not what "sounds better", it's very much right or wrong in terms of grammar. Give me some context and I'll be able to help you better!

You're right. Old age creeping up... but in terms of what I said, it makes little difference. So:

Afin que je puisse - so that I am / was / will be able

Afin que j'aie pu - so that I have been / had been able
