Mental health nursing time table

Hi, I’m applying to study mental health nursing next April. Does anyone have an example of what the time tables are like for first year? Also do ages of nursing students vary? Going to back to uni at 31, although I feel 21 haha x

Hi, I’m also going to be studying Mental Health Nursing starting in September. I’m 40 and believe that is a wide range of ages with many people choosing Nursing as a second career or starting later in life. I believe the timetable is typically three days at Uni attending lectures/clinical skills training and two study days per week when not on placement. Feel free to give me a shout if you need any advice on the application process etc. Best of luck with your application 🙂

Congrats on getting in! That has put my mind at ease that it’s a variety! It’s funny how one day you decide you fancy a completely different career haha. That does sound like a good mixture. Thank you so much for that, I will 😃

Congratulations on securing your offer 🙂 We can assure you that our cohorts all vary in age and that you'll find a warm and welcoming environment. We're hosting an open day in August if you'd like to stop by and chat with academics and current students about the timetable, more information can be found here:

Hi, I’ve applied for mental health nursing at the ripe old age of 40 too, hopefully starting this September. How has your first year gone so far?? Did your timetable workout as you thought? 3 days at uni/2 days study? Thank you.

Unfortunately for me I was thinking it would be like that as I was a special needs teacher. Therefore reduced my hours to work just two days and study the rest. However when I finally got my timetable it was basically nearly every day at uni. That for me was definitely hard as I had to give up my teaching. And then it was the worry of living with less money. Then child care but so far I worked it out and it’s going ok. But i think every university is different.
The course its self is very intense with studying exams and many assignments. Plus 6 placements over the 2 years I study.

Thank you for your reply. That’s what I’m thinking about work. I’m glad you’ve been able to work it out so far.
