Informal offer/verbal offer

Does anyone know what a verbal offer is? Applied through clearing (called the university) and don't know where i stand with the offer at the moment.

What did they say?

So I applied for sociology and criminology on the phone later I received an email and this is what stood out to me:

"We are pleased to make you a verbal offer of a place to study on the following course:

BA (Hons) Sociology and Criminology Full-time"

They wrote in an email that they want to make you a verbal offer?

which university was this that doesn’t understand what the word verbal means?

No they related it back to the call I made PS Birmingham City University

Do you want to accept the offer and study that course at BCU?

Yes

Then you just need to add the course as your clearing choice on UCAS Hub

The problem is they gave me an online form to complete so I'm confused, they might update it after they've seen the form

Did the form say something about Record of Prior Acceptance or RPA anywhere?
That's the form they'd send to applicants who don't have a UCAS application at the moment

No they didn't it was a simple form asking for my qualifications and UCAS information as well as personal details
