how to develop a strong uni application

hi! i'm in yr 11, going into yr 12 and recently i've been stressing out a lot over uni applications, because i've been advised my subject choices and the area i'd like to specialise in (engineering, most likely aerospace or aeronautical), is highly competitive and i need to really step up my game and develop a good uni application because i can't really just rely on good grades, and i don't really do any extracurriculars, play a sport, or anything interesting. i've heard about attending talks and conferences but i really don't know where to find all these things and what to do so if someone could please guide me, and drop any useful resources that would be really appreciated!
thank u sm!

Hi!
First of all I want to say don't worry too much as you are clearly very organised to be thinking about this so early on.
I would recommend getting involved with some kind of club at your school/college as this does add a lot to your application, this doesn't have to be anything particularly time consuming, me and my friends started a 'feminist club' in sixth form and met one lunch time to talk about things going on in the world.
Talks and conferences are a great way to get experience and education that is relevant to what you want to study, there are many of these that are available online as zoom calls etc, I would suggest searching for talks on the specific area you are interested in (if there is one specific part of aerospace engineering that fascinates you and you have attended a talk on this, this can be great to talk about in an application as it shows genuine interest and active learning).
A helpful website for courses is https://www.futurelearn.com/courses - they have a range of different free courses specialising in all sorts of areas of interest.
I hope this is helpful, feel free to reply with any questions!
