Hi, I got a UCAT of 2530 Band 2 and 999999888 with A*AA predicted (increasing it to all A*s) with plenty of work experience. Any suggestions? Is it risky applying for Lincoln?

‘Lincoln does not use UCAT cut off scores. The entry criteria for Lincoln, which offers a collaborated degree programme with the University of Nottingham, is the same as the entry criteria used when applying for Nottingham directly. Points are awarded for GCSEs as well as UCAT and SJT scores. The individual subsections are scored, with double the score given to the Verbal Reasoning section. There are a maximum of 120 points available for UCAT score, with a maximum of 60 coming from UCAT subsections and 60 from SJT banding (i.e. SJT Band 1 can be quite advantageous here, as this alone awards 60 points). The total scores for GCSEs and UCAT/SJT are added up to give a total score. Candidates will be selected for interview based on total scores, with no set minimum score. Applicants with SJT Band 4 are automatically rejected.’

Say 120 points is a strong contender for interview, its a risk - the band 2 is really pulling it down ( the 15 points from band 1 would make iit)
Heyy, Does that document say that less than 5 people got over 120 points?? Also, I got 132 points but I can only choose one of nottingham or lincoln. Which should I choose?

I mean, that part does seem a bit good to be true… probably is wrong, but 132 points is great for an interview. Its not just about the course (as they both have the same medicine course), but the campus, city… have you been on their open days? There is one for Nottingham on Saturday 9 September 2023 https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/open-days/

no not yet, I've heard that nottingham is a bigger campus though

The medical school building is brand new at Lincoln and the cohort is a lot smaller so it has a bit more of a community feel to it. Nottingham however heavily a student city with 2 unis and there are always things to do and has a the major trauma hospital Queen's whereas Lincoln is more community hospitals. Even though they are both cities they are quite different as well as the type of people on the course. From students I have spoken to, the student work life balance is better at lincoln, chiller atmosphere.

This advice is GOLD! Thank you so much, you don't know how much I've been dwelling over whether to choose Notts or Lincoln haha
I heard the cutoff was around 123 for lincoln, so yes its a bit risky
I wonder how much it will go up this year with people discovering lincoln more and the investment they've just put into the new building, I'm at 127 so hopefully it doesn't go up astronomically aha

Don't worry the grade deflation neutralises the increase in Band 1s so the cutoff is likely to stay the same or go up by 1 or 2 - it won't go down though
Hi guys, I want to apply to Notts but I think it may be risky as my UCAT score, (especially VR) is quite low. These are my stats: GCSE's: 10 9's A*A*A* predicted UCAT = 2650 : SJT Band 1
VR = 560 DM = 710 QR = 730 AR = 650
I calculated 124 as my score but I'm not too sure if I did it right. If so, is this a competitive score? Would my low VR weigh me down? I'm deciding between Notts, Keele, and Cardiff as my 4th option. Please help!
