Academic Comeback (ง •̀_•́)ง

Hi everyone ( ´ ` )ノ
Some of you might know me from last year grow your grades (https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7279890)
I decided to start a new Grow Your Grade this year because I'm about to start my first year of uni. I was/am really disappointed with my A-level grades so this grow your grade will be a way to hold myself accountable and stop me from being lazy. (ง'̀-'́)ง

A little about moi (๑'ᵕ'๑)⸝*
Course I'm studying - Engineering (it is general for the first year and specialised in the second year)
University I'm going to - University of Leicester
Some other facts about me - I like watching Kdramas ( I've actually been getting into C dramas and J dramas lately so if you have any recommendations let me know), I enjoy reading Webtoons, I crochet (I'm also trying to learn how to knit but knitting is not for the weak "( - - )), I like plants, food, tea and I also enjoy reading ( but I'm in a bit of a reading slump rn T_T)

⋆。°✩ Things I need to do before uni starts:
Sort out my student finance ( I sent them a letter about my change of uni and they haven't replied yet )
Take a photo for my student ID
Sort out my notion and Google calendar (I'll do this once I get my timetable) I feel like last year I didn't really use notion as much as I could and I found the perfect notion template for this year
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os0V5ADLVjM -This is the notion tour and you can find the template in the comment (it's a really good template)
☐Sign up to societies
☑Start packing (I move out on the 17th so I'll start packing tomorrow TᴖT )

yeah you need to stopp being lay. you need to study. several hours a day for lessons, etc. do what it takes to get that First. You've already underachieved relative to expectations - time to buckle down even if it takes sacrificing other things.
Hi @hat25 just to let you know I've moved your blog over to the new forum for Grow Your Grades 2023-24. Good luck with everything!

✧I've sorted out my Google calendar (I used coolors.co to customise the colours and it turned out pretty well ᵔ). I think it might need a few tweaks here and there once I get my final timetable on Friday but I've done what I can for now.
✧For my notion, I still need to sort out the classes and syllabus once school actually starts
✧Packing: I'm halfway through I think......I feel like I'm packing everything and nothing at the same time. A massive load of what I'm packing is just kitchen supplies. (Maybe I should go to culinary school instead (;¬д¬))

✧I've finally finished packing all my stuff (except for stuff I still need like my skincare). it was a struggle to fit everything in the car but I managed ε-(´・`) ). My accommodation is on the ground floor so I don't need to worry about everything fitting the elevator. Our timetables were released yesterday, and I just needed to sort out some bits and pieces on my Google calendar. Uni officially starts on the 25th so I have about a week to prepare and refresh my maths knowledge.

I moved into my accommodation yesterday and it didn't go too well... First, they couldn't find my key or my fob(so that was inconvenient), my sink was/is leaking and my shampoo exploded in my bag. so my first night was interesting, to say the least.

✧˖°Today✧˖°
My door has been sorted out so now I have a key (yay) and I told the maintenance guy about the sink so it's all good now. my plan going forward is to explore the city a bit more and to start preparing for school.

I gues I am also doing an 'academic comeback' in a way with A-levels, as I just managed to get the grades I needed for A-levels. I'm doing the infamous trio of Maths/Phys/FM along with Philosophy and ethics (which is irrelevant). I got people in my class which I feel are ahead in the A-Level game, so my comeback is to not only be the best, but to also show myself that I am capable of doing such subjects

these past few days I've just been settling in and getting used to living alone. I've been walking around and trying to familiarise myself with the city. I'm going to some uni-planned activities over the next few days and uni starts on Monday (I'm excited but I'm also kind of scared). I plan to set some goals for myself (both academic and personal) and I can look back on it at the end of the year to see what went well and what didn't. I also need to budget but I don't really know how. I need to get a job if I can but it's not really a priority for me at the moment. I need to figure out how the buses work because the weather will only get colder and I do not want to be walking around in the snow. also, rain and glasses do not mix well at all, I know I could just get an umbrella but it's just too windy the umbrella would probably get blown away.
