Is NEC worth it or should I just self-study?

Hello, I’m currently studying A level English Literature independently, and I just wondered if it’s worth paying for NEC (£590 or £45 per month for a year), or continuing to self-study? My only concerns are staying motivated and getting a grade A in my exams in 2025.

I started last week, and I’m on track to move onto the AQA anthology of poetry by the end of next week, but I’m worried I’ll lose motivation as time goes on.

The exam itself will cost me £600 if I can’t find a school/college that’ll allow me to sit it there. Getting coursework marked will cost me a further £160. I have a plan to get it verified for free, but it that doesn’t work out I was going to go with the cheapest online college I could find to get it done through them (likely around £250-£300).

I’d be very grateful for any advice. Thanks
