Equine sports science at ntu - help!

I'd really like to be an equine veterinary nurse and I'm wondering if with this course (equine sports science) I'd be able to advance to that?

I know the course isn't RCVS accredited like hartpurys is, however they do say "the course complements study towards the BHS and UKCC" - not too sure what this means.

Would I have to apply to be a registered veterinary nurse later on independently?

Thank you !

Hi @maja n.

Thanks so much for getting in touch! Our Equine Sports Science course is specifically designed for students wishing to further their knowledge of the science behind the production, management and training of performance horses. The course does complement study towards the British Horse Society (BHS) and United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC), which are riding instructor and coach qualifications. However to become a registered vet nurse, you would need to undertake further study or qualifications following the course.

At NTU we do offer an FdSc Vetinary Nursing course which is RCVS accredited and allows graduates to register as fully qualified vet nurses. This course however focuses on small animals, and unfortunately we do not offer an equine specialism.

We're holding an open event before the 31 January UCAS deadline on Saturday 20 January, where you can visit our Brackenhurst campus and speak to our lecturers about the different courses we offer and find out more if NTU is the right choice for you. You can book your place at: https://www.ntu.ac.uk/study-and-courses/open-days*

I hope this helps!
