Can I study at uni and do my nvqs at the same time

Hi,
I'm currently working as a carer in a care home. About 2 months ago I signed up to do nvqs. I'm also really wanting to go to university for the next academic year (2024 september) to study pharmacology. I aim to keep my employment but reduce my hours to about 20 hours a week but want to do my nvqs and my pharmacology degree at the same time. Is that even possible am I allowed to do both qualifications at the same time?

Hi,

Kudos to you for working as a carer. 🙂

What you've said is all fine so long as you have the right qualifications already to satisfy the entry requirements (i.e. you're not using these NVQs as a way to gain entry on to the qualification).

What I would caution against is your time commitments. If you're doing NVQs as part of your caring job, then you are absolutely allowed to do that, but would this eat into some pharmacology studying time?

If you feel it would not impact, then from an "if you're allowed to" perspective. You are 🙂

Good luck!
