Difference between History/Politics and History/Politics (SocSci)?

I am thinking of applying to study history and politics at the university of Glasgow, but they have a history/politics course and a history/politics (SocSci) course, does anyone know what the difference is and if one is better? (also is Glasgow a good uni for this course?)
Hi Aedann,

I hope you're well.

Firstly there is no difference in the content of the course regardless of whether you take this as an MA (Arts degree) or an MA Soc Sci (Social Science degree) everyone undertakes the same subject modules.

The difference between the MA and MA (Soc Sci) is firstly, the type of degree you get at the end of it, and secondly what your other subjects would be in first and second year. Honours degrees in arts, social sciences and science offer you the flexibility to study several subjects before choosing a specialism of one or two.

You can find out more about our flexible degree system here: https://www.gla.ac.uk/undergraduate/choosingyourdegree/artssciencesocialsciences

Hope this has helped clarify

Thanks,
Niall
