Top tips for visiting us at an open day

‘Which course is right for me?’, ‘What student support is available?’, ‘Where will I have my lectures?’ These are just some of the questions you might be asking yourself as you start to consider your university options. You’ll find the answers to these, plus lots more, at one of our Open Days.

Below are the top five reasons we think visiting us at an Open Day is the best way to find the answers to your questions.

1. Meet our academic staff 🎓
While you study with us, you will spend lots of your time working with academics. One way to find out if a course is right for you is to speak to the teaching team beforehand. At our Open Days, staff from every department will be available for an informal chat or to answer any specific questions you might have.

2. Check out our beautiful campus 🌼
A brilliant way to get a real feel for university life is to take a look around the campus. At our Open Day you can join a campus tour and visit our facilities including accommodation, the libraries, catering outlets and social spaces. Tours are led by our student ambassadors, so they are a great opportunity to ask any questions you have about what it’s truly like to be a student here at Winchester.

3. Speak to staff from our support services 🙋
Our student support teams are on hand to answer your questions on admissions, accommodation, finance and what support there is available on campus. An Open Day is the best place to speak to all of the support services in one place, so you can leave with a better idea of what to expect during university. Our friendly teams are available to answer questions about applying to university, how you can finance your studies and what support you will have access to once you’re a student.

4. Talk to current students 😎
We think this might just be the most important reason to visit us at an Open Day. Current students are the best people to get a real, honest answer about what it is like studying and living in Winchester. We can’t think of anyone better to prepare you for university than someone currently experiencing it themselves. You can find out more about studying at Winchester, and also ask those questions you may not want to ask staff and academics directly. You might even find a friendly face to look out for when you start!

5. Chat through your housing options including commuting 🏡
Where you choose to live during your time at university is a big decision and with the cost of living on the rise, more and more students are choosing to commute. We have a range of student accommodation available including catered and self-catered, on campus and University Managed Housing in the city. Students looking to commute can benefit from our Commuters Lounge which is run by our Student Union Commuters Society. This space has great facilities including a kettle, fridge and microwave, a shower and a quiet study room.

We think it's important to ask the questions that matter the most to you. Whether you’re keen to know all about clubs and societies, accommodation choices, student finance or where to get the best coffee in town, our fantastic team of current students and staff can give you the information you need. If you have any questions about our Open Days, let us know! We’ll be more than happy to help.
