Hi, I sent off my NEA a couple months ago now - but was in a similar position and found it really confusing too. What I found useful was to split it up into individual sections and take it from there, for example:

title

hypothesis/hypotheses

location of study

why you chose this specific topic/study

methodology (I found it easier to split this into a table)

types of data used (quantitative/qualitative/primary/secondary)

data collection (i.e. doing your method yourself)

conclusions to draw from your results

evaluation of what you did well/would do better next time

bibliography

Your exam board's website should have some good exemplars, so I would recommend looking there too, as well as finding a spec related to your exam board's NEA. They have some of their own topic ideas that you could use

Also try asking your friends and teachers for help, that's something I found useful too
