Seeking Financial Support for place at Christ Hospital sixth form

Recently, I was accepted into Christ Hospital sixth form (an independent school) for the class of 2024. However, they only offered my family and me a 54% bursary (which is essentially £6,000+ per term). My family can't afford this; however, they say we shouldn't have been given anything due to how much equity we have. The only reason I was given the bursary at all was due to my high entrance exam scores and my interview. We own the house we live in, plus a small apartment in Streatham; however, there is still debt on both properties. We have also applied for a scholarship, but it will only cover 20%, and I won't find out if I got anything until the 9th of February. I am trying to find external sponsorship or grants that my family might be able to apply for since we have a relatively low household income. Christ Hospital is honestly my ideal sixth form, and I basically fell in love with the place the minute I went there, so I definitely want to fight to keep my place. Can anyone please recommend any companies or organizations I can go to get help? Anything is appreciated.

Hiya! Current sixth form student at CH here. Would deffo get in contact with the school and explain your situation. Tell them that you are not able to afford the school and explain that it is your child’s dream sixth form. I hope they can give understanding since so many of us receive financial aid. In terms of sponsors- I know of companies such as the drapers, ironmongers, fishmongers etc. sponsor pupils. There are more but I can’t remember them off the top of my head (basically a lot of the guilds in London). There are also schemes where Old Blues give financial aid so I’d recommend checking those out as well!
Good luck! Also if you have any questions about CH feel free to ask

i know i’m a year late, but i’m set to join CH in september coming into y11/GE.
how did you find CH and what was your overall experience? i’m incredibly nervous and im not sure what to expect.
my school closed down due to financial issues and im halfway through gcses so its already quite a stressful situation and i have found no student opinions on the school which is not reassuring me 😅
im also accepted to stay on for sixth form, so how did you find/are you finding it?
and if you are a boarder; how is your experience in that regard?
thank you!! sorry!! 💗

CH is an amazing place! It was definitely busy and overwhelming at times and doesn't suit everyone but the people you will meet you will probably become very very close with. Of course it's nerve wracking moving to a new school especially in gcse year. I would say just try your best to keep on top of work in lessons (get into a good routine), get involved in extracurriculars at school as this is where you will meet a lot of people (if not in your house) but don't overload yourself if it's too much during gcse year. Personally, I would recommend learning an instrument at CH if you don't already play one and have the means to do so (you can ask the music department to pay for your lessons if you're on a large bursary) as the music department is really very good. I can imagine you might be nervous about integrating into the year group but I'd definitely say people will have forgotten you joined later in no time and you will be a part of the year just like everyone else. Also, don't sweat too much about gcses- just try your best and you'll be alright! There are quite a number of people in each year group so be patient and you will find your people- you don't have to make friends with people you don't get on with (and there will be people like that just like in any school). Boarding is lots of fun. Bring some tuck/food back to school if you're not so keen on school meals. First term (michaelmas) you'll have house singing so that will take place in the evenings in house and will probably be the best way to get to know your own house. But yes don't be too shy, talk to people and you'll be amazing! gl
