National 5 Computing Science: Visual Basic question

Hello Folks

We are in Scotland. My daughter is studying the above. For the Software Development module, the class is coding, at a very basic level, using Visual Basic.

I have an old Windows 10 laptop and would like to know if it is possible to install a basic/simple version of Visual Basic which she can use to practice coding then running any Visual Basic projects.

I have had a look myself at the Visual Studio downloads on the microsoft.com website but I am honestly baffled by just exactly what product I should download, if indeed any of the downloads would suit.

Does anyone have any known workable solutions they would like to share ? Coding is really not my thing !

It is a pity the school is not offering Python. W3 Schools looks a good place to learn.
