Interdisciplinary degree

Hi all,

I have always loved physics and maths and dreamt of going to study physics at Cambridge university however recently (I am in Y11) I have truly fell in love with English and philosophy and that kind of essay writing subject. The A-levels I am currently thinking are maths,Fmaths, philosophy and religion, and physics however I don’t want to give up on English either. This is my first dilemma

I have been looking at a uni called London Interdisciplinary School that offers a degree covering physics,English, humanities so I wouldn’t have to abandon anything. I was just wondering if a degree like this would be viewed as highly if I applied for a job and how it would work if I then wanted to move into a specialised subject like physics or law?

Thanks

Dont touch the London Interdisciplinary School - its a weird off-grid set up that has zero academic credibility.

There are numerous degrees at established Unis that allow you to do a range of different subjects within one degree - look at Liberal Arts, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Combined Honours, Flexible Honours, Natural Sciences etc etc.

Would I be more likely to come out of LIS with a job though as I heard you work closely with many big companies?

If you want to be a guinea pig and start your career off on a bet, then go for it. But be absolutely certain you aren't blowing your 1 chance of SFE funding and the debt on a shiny website.

Forget LIS.

Have a look at the BASc at UCL if you want to follow an interdisciplinary path at a high level. Birmingham have a similar course.
