Applying to biomedical engineering and electrical/electronic engineering

I’m thinking of applying to:

UCL-electrical and electronic engineering

UCL- biomedical engineering

Uni of Bristol - electrical and electronic engineering

Imperial College London -biomedical engineering

Queens university Belfast - electrical and electronic engineering

I’m interested in both degrees and if I do electrical and electronic engineering i’d like to go into the medical device industry but i also like other parts of it, but would applying to both degrees disadvantage me?

Hi!

Those are some great choices in terms of degrees to choose from, I am about to graduate from Queen's University Belfast in Electrical and Electronic Engineering BEng this summer.

The course for the most part is pretty good and really wide spread, leaves your options very wide open in the job market (I landed jobs in electrical design, firmware design and ended up going with an electronic and software design position in the end for reference). In Stage 3 (final year of BEng), we had a 'Connected Health' module, this focused on sensor and antenna design in regards to the medical fields, however this is probably the only relevance to your interest in Biomedical Engineering we had in my 3 years (and a placement year).

In regards to it disadvantaging you, I can't see why it would, I may be wrong but I don't see anything wrong with leaving your options open, I know this reply is pretty late but I thought it might still be worth adding context for you.
