Sorry for the late reply. Norland College is very academically focused with not a lot of help or guidance provide by the lecturing team. So having A-levels may help (more so than childcare experience, I feel). You may be asked to create an academic poster, write reports, essays, and present your own idea for a nursery (which includes aspects of Early Years theorists and even legislation). In the final year you will be expected to write a dissertation which involves providing a rationale for your proposal, establishing aims and objectives, analysing the data you have collected before presenting the findings and comparing it with existing literature. You will then be expected to assess the trustworthiness of your research before drawing conclusions. Norland say they will support you, but I am sorry to say they rarely do. If you speak to Norland, ask for evidence of the level of support they have provided in the past – and please do not accept anecdotal evidence or an excuse of “We cannot provide this because of the Data Protection Act” - they should be able to provide you with anonymous examples. If you de decide to go, tell them the level of support you are expecting and get it in writing that they agree to provide this. I hope this helps!
