Adult nursing 2024 Wolverhampton uni Walsall campus

Anyone else enrolled onto adult nursing for April 2024 at walsall campus. I’m a bit nervous to start, I’m a first time mum to a 6 month old about to go back to uni for the second time. wishing I went for this when I applied in 2018 and had less responsibility😂

Anyone else worried about placement? There’s a lot of negative experiences from students relating to placements.

Hi Chloe,I am in my final year as a mental health student nurse in three mounts I will have completed my undergraduates degree I will be 45 when I qualify, and I also have 2 kids 1st is 9 the other 14years old.And I must honestly say I have fully enjoyed this journey on my degree and placement I have learned loads in adult nursing and mental health they only sad thing is it is coming to an end of my degree. But in replace I will have earned an amazing start to my career.Just want to say well do for considering the nursing programme that’s the hardest part remember it is a privilege to study as a nurse even a great privilege to be registered as a nurses. I would like to address that what you said about being scared of placement! Yes it is quite daunting going into an environment that you are unsure of, it is even more so when other students are telling you how awful placement is? I am talking from my experience and my observations of students, and being on placement. I would encourage you to just enjoy your journey and not worry too much how others feel on their placements/journey different experiences for different students. Every placement I have attended have been brilliant, I observe and hear qualified nurses say a lot to us students keep yourself busy ask questions and enjoy your placement. I can never understand why a student would be sharing nightmare of their study to potential students that want to be apart of an experience that will change your life forever! Plus if I listened to others that had negative experiences I would never have got this far. My advise would be to you is learn from students that show commitment and interest in their role. Because let’s be brutally honest if it was that bad placement would students be enjoying their time on placement or even getting as far as I have. Each person will experience their own personal journey and I want to emphasise that by saying we all are individuals and how a placement goes for one student won’t for the other. The one thing to take from this never forget the reason you are doing this and it is easy to for get that. But that in mind and you will stay on track.i would also suggest soon as you hear negative comments remove your self away. plus if it was that bad why are students still training. What I would say is when on placement ask ask ask questions make yourself busy be keen to learn that’s all they ask for remember your paying for this degree so get what you feel you need out of training, also the real learning starts when your qualified as a nurse and you will never stop learning Plus what I always come across during my placements is the as a student that’s a safe place to make mistakes your not going to be judged the uni will not allow you to be put in a position where you feel let down. Remember empowerment is a big thing in nursing roles and that’s what nurse will do empower you, I do apologise about the long paragraph. But I wanted to get important messages out their it’s your journey no one else’s.You also I mentioned you have a baby amazing. I have two children too and that was my inspiration to keep pushing: there is support out there please use it and ask for the help. Please go for this if it’s something you have considered then it is obviously a passion don’t let people discourage yo, find out for yourself and take bits from everyone. I would say go out there and enjoy it. I am sorry about the long message but but I wanted to explain the best way I can without being judgemental to other. Another thing is I am very excited to be coming closer to graduating and then helping other students that was in my position to grow and watch them grow imagine that?Hope this helps and and makes you feel more at ease you continue with your dream. If you have any burning questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them.Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Yyes you may ask I am fully enjoying it. You make what you want out of this degree remember it is a privilege to be doing the degree but to be qualified and get your pin is a bigger privilege. I am so excited to be nearly Finished buzzing, and all I can say is it will be worth it and it will fly by fast just enjoy the journey as a student and don’t let anyone discourage you you have to break away from them and cut ties this is a professional degree your life is going to change significantly and you’ll notice your circle getting smaller because your old life will be improved and perfected you got this
