mate, lets be honest, all muslims, even extremists will listen to and possibly play..music, even the prophet (pbuh) listened to music and music has been an intergral part of muslim culture for centuries....but if you still believe that it is haram....then the reading of the Qu'ran can be considered music as the Imam will "sing" the verses and hadiths......do you still think that music is haram as by doing so, you also automatically asume that the reading of the Qu'ran in its lyrical poetic form (the intended way) is also haram.....:yep:

Please people stop doing my head in, Music is Haram end of you just need to do a bit of research for yourself, whether the music has pornography, obscenity reference to drugs or not Music is still regarded Haraam. Remember like I've already said before a religion cannot be tailor made for your own needs, Pork in Islam is haraam which means it is for everyone same applies to music. I listen to music too sometimes but at least I don't deny it is Haraam, just because I like doing it.

How does extremists listening to music and singing make it permissible in Islam, in fact an extremist is an example of everything a Muslim should not be, please stop talking a whole load of gibberish. No the prophet did not listen to music please quote me any ahadiths to back your statement up, as far as I'm aware he never didn't, if that was the case Music would not be forbidden in Islam. Reading the Qur'an cannot be regarded as Music, there are no musical instruments used and what's wrong with reading the Qur'an in a melodious voice, it is the words of Allah.

I haven't seen the vid...but this is what i have been taught:

Music is similar to TV, both of which can be compared to a blade. There is nothing wrong with using a blade in a good way (eg cutting fruit and veg), but it is haram to use it in a bad way (eg to hurt/murder someone). TV and music are fine if it does not go against what Islam says (eg watching the news, listening to nasheeds or music without inappropriate content). But it does become haram when you use it unlawfully (eg movies/songs with sexual references)

Hope that made sense =)

I can't be bothered to explain it again, please refer to brother Method's post.

So you don't listen to music at all?

I mean I'm muslim aswell but I just find it impossible not to listen to music. .....although I havent listened to any music during ramadan.:p:

Yes I've already said this, I do listen to music, but people here are denying it because it's something they like doing.
Oh man, I hate being unable to lie in properly - I've been up since 10~ish and went to sleep fairly late. I blame reading scary stories.
