What does this pakistani [possibly urdu] word mean?

Or something like it. My dad's Pakistani friend keeps calling me it and I really want to know what it means! [p.s. I'm female, I noticed he calls my sister it too but not my brother]

beta is Urdu for son but grown ups use this term affectionately for males and females significantly younger than them.

Beta is traditionally used for males but ye, it can be used for both genders.

Beta is an affectionate term for a son or child. People use it in South Asia to refer to their own children in an endearing manner so it's certainly a compliment. :smile:

It basically means like child but like a girl same with nikee but that’s more like what u would call your own daughter or you’d say that’s someone else’s daughter if u get what I mean
