Finsbury/Heyworth are much better for socialising, but Peartree's a lot more comfortable. Don't get me wrong though, peartree's still good for socialising, and it's right next to finsbury/heyworth anyway, so you can visit your friends in those halls and whatnot.

Liberty Court's very expensive and VERY comfortable - it's like living in a premier inn at times - but not very sociable at all. It's a 5 minute walk to the other halls and people tend to like to shut themselves away. It's less halls of residence-ish, but that also means that you make a sacrifice when it comes to socialising (not that everybody in Liberty Court is anti-social - i live there and it's great!).

So all in all:
Finsbury/heyworth - cheapest, best for socialising, least comfortable
Peartree court - slightly more expensive, good for socialising, comfortable
Liberty court - very expensive, not so great for socialising, very comfortable

Hullo, just got a few questions you might be able to help me out with.

How likely is it that as an undergrad I'll get a place at a HoR?

Are there NO en-suite rooms whatsoever in the HoRs?

What are the "communal showers and toilets" like? Do any problems ever arise?

Hi there.

I lived in Peartree last year and it was ok.

The main difference between Peartree and Finsbury/Heyworth is Peartree is in flats while Finsbury/Heyworth is in dorms. The room sizes are roughly equal.
In Peartree you share 2 toilets/showers between 4 people so it's not too bad, however you are responsible for cleaning the communal areas, this can lead to problems if you are placed with messy people (quite likely). We got round this buy paying for a cleaner to come around, which they took out our deposit.
In the dorms I think you share with 12 people and I think there are 2/3 toilets and a communal kitchen, however the kitchen is a lot bigger and cleaners come round once a day.

As someone previously said, Peartree has quite a cosy feel to it, and can be great if you get on with your flatmates, but make sure you try and socialise with others in the dorms too so you can get the social side too!
