I want to be on tv as a job but im doing a degree in history.......help!

As a person i am loud funny and i am destined to be on tv!!!!!!
but as for qualifications im doing a split degree with history and business
i really wanna be on tv as a job!
what do i do :frown:

lol! seriously though, that may not be a bad start. look up tv shows online that need historians, you never know and there's nothing wrong with being ambitious, there needs to be more people like you in this world lol :smile:

I doubt Fearne Cotton has a degree in anything, so you're already one step ahead.

You might think you're joking... somebody from my university did that. But they're not actually on TV - more one of the research team. I'm not sure what the prospects are for ending up on screen from this but it must be a start. This was with a degree in Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic (probably the most obscure degree Cambridge do) - a very specialised degree for what was probably a very specialised job vacancy.

A lot of people get on TV for being experts in a particular field - I'm talking about journalists, and people who make documentaries, who research and write the material as well as present it. And comedians and actors obviously will have had a long road to getting there. I'm guessing you're after the more generic sort of "presenter" job? In which case I seem to remember that programmes like Blue Peter would hold open auditions where anyone could send in an application form and audition tape and they'd call in the people they liked the look of? I imagine it's a very difficult job and being "loud funny" is only going to be a small part of it!
