I don't blame Wenger for not holding onto Gilberto -- he looked out of his depth in his final season; far too sluggish and we can't rely on these players when they get older. The obvious criticism should be aimed at Wenger for not getting in better replacements or, at least, acting quicker to replace Denilson, Diaby etc. But either way, the biggest problem we have faced for some time is injuries -- every year they cripple our season, and this year it is set to do the same. Our first XI -- the XI that we were seeing a few months ago -- would win the league...but as always, it's now decimated with injuries and only half of that team are available. I don't know what is wrong but I think it's pathetic that it hasn't been addressed publicly and there hasn't been a visible effort to prevent that.
Leadership is also a problem. When things are going ok, everyone wants the ball, everyone looks comfortable. Now we need certain players to step up -- and they're not average players...they're supremely-talented, highly-paid, brilliant players like Van Persie, Arshavin and Nasri. But nobody will step up because of this culture that Wenger has created where there are no consequences for poor performances. As I said after the CC final, I feel sorry for Wilshere that he has to play alongside these half-arsed ****s.
