Hi all,
Sorry about not replying, the last few weeks have been absolutely hectic here in terms of workload; havent had a chance to come on here at all.
In terms of choosing between Bristol and Durham, thats entirely up to you and I wouldnt like to persuade you to go to somewhere you wont enjoy the next 3 years at. The 2 universities might be similar in terms of reputation but the cities are very different and I think thats an important factor when it comes to choosing a university or at least it was for me.
In terms of the course here, it has changed slightly and youre likely to know more about it than I am; so far ive learnt Java and were learning C too, before I came to university I knew web languages but you learn PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript too (if they still offer that module?) I think the computer scientists do a bit more of C and some Haskell too.
I like the department, the lecturers are friendly and helpful and most provide good lecture notes too. Im not sure why its so low down on the tables, its probably to do with postgraduate stuff, we seem to lack funding to be able to hold onto a lot of students who want to MScs/PhDs. Im not too sure what youre asking about 3DTVs? Ive never seen anything about that here and it hasnt bothered me at all, if thats something that Bristol specialise in or have links with and it interests you, go for it. Ive had no problems getting internships though, although ive been mainly aiming for financial institutions I know a few people at IBM and the likes.
