I fear that De Boer could take Tottenham to new heights :
- Finances enough to keep up with other big teams - Decent squad depth - Good individual quality per player - Can't really do much worse then AVB/Sherwood
This is all nice and dandy but not without the right manager. What De Boer has done with Ajax just shows how much he can do with Tottenham. If this deal comes into place then I see Tottenham seriously contending for the EPL and CL spots again. I don't see anyone else they can get really other than Van Gaal, but if I were in there position I'd take De Boer immediately, more for the long term improvement. Wenger's not leaving this year so chances of us getting De Boer instead are slim to none.
inb4 Too much faith in Tottenham.
He's not going to Tottenham as far as I am aware. Regardless, the Tottenham job is going to require a lot of restructuring. Its going to take at least two seasons before the usual suspects consider them as a threat.

Yep - That's why I said they should take De Boer over Van Gaal ( if said deal was even happening) since De Boer would probably offer more long term stability and gain. Of course the club isn't going to change immediately but it would still be headed in the right direction. Anyways yeah it's all Rumours right now, but he hasn't confirmed/denied it either so the chance of it happening is still some what open.
Team would obviously have to go under some transformation and these changes aren't going to come into effect immediately. Basically see what Rodgers has done for Liverpool and I'm trying to say that De Boer could do something similar. Tottenham kinda look like they've been in transition ever since Redknapp left, and it's also going to take a lot of work to reconstruct what they're missing from Bale. Can't write them off for improving their away record at some point None the less I see Arsenal being miles ahead in a few years as we've only just started to get back on out feet.
At the end of the day when there is 7 top quality teams contending for top 4/1st place it's ridiculous to imagine how tight the EPL may be in the future
Nothing against him as a player cause he's going to be very very good, but I feel the team and more importantly system makes him better than he actually is. Walcott on the RW for liverpool this season would have absolutely annihilated teams, it's the perfect system for a pacey winger.
He's not there yet, and I still think Walcott will have more to offer (hopefully without any ramifications from the injury) so I'd give it at least 4 years of development before doing the typically British tactic of over hyping and then vilifying a player because he couldn't handle the scrutiny.
true - our set up has definitely assisted his development and performances. yeah, i think he has a ways to go, however i still think we can get excited about him. he has been consistently good this year, even in matches where the SAS have been bad.
But either way, as it stands the 2014 CL final looks a lot like the 2008 CL final, where both teams were in a domestic title race when they won their respective CL semi finals
Well that's that for Chelsea. Mourinho is past it in CL. (although Arsenal's rivals keep arguing that Wenger is past it when it comes to just challenging for a domestic title)

Wenger's entire reputation rests on next season imo and how he spends the money in the transfer window. The guy is likely to win the FA Cup, it is how he moves on from this that will define the second half of his career.
