Accommodation

Hey, just made Northumbria my firm, and so stuck on accommodation, i am moving over from ireland by myself i like to socialise and head out a lot , applying into second year of media production, anyone got any advice where to live thats lively and easy to get to know people?
I've been told on more than one occasion that Glenamara is the social accommodation. I've put it as my first choice 😊

Off the top of my head, I know Liberty Quay and Trinity Square have common rooms (not sure how much use they get though). Glenamara and Winn Studios can have up to 8 and 10 people in a flat as well though, so I imagine that'll be social too. The SU also have their own Halls Facebook groups too so you can meet new people in your accommodation too.

Yeah me too! Where are you thinking of? I chose Glenamara bc an ensure doesn't bother me, I'd just like a social environment/flat. Yeah I had loads of problems, I had to email and call accommodation services

same i want Glenamara as my first choice too , same doesn't bother me there will more than likely be more than one toilet/shower in the whole flat lol some of the accommodation is so expensive as well. it let me log in twice and i had picked 5 places and wouldn't let me go to the next stage  its so **** lol

Yeah I applied for four I think, some are so expensive. Might be flat/building mates haha. I don't suppose you have Twitter? I don't tend to use Facebook, but it'd be nice to get to know some people beforehand 😅

I can't decide!! looked at glenamara when I went on the open day but I really didn't like it, I liked Winn Studios when I went on the open day and I want somewhere social though so as I can meet new people.
My son was in Glenamara a couple of years ago and he found it very social. He was always going to parties in different flats! When I visited it was always clean and well looked after, and why pay £800+ more a year just for your own en-suite. He wasn't bothered. His room had a washbasin and there was a bath, shower (2?), 2 toilets, all in separate rooms within the flat. He was in one of the larger flats for 8 people. It had a really big kitchen and sitting and eating area. My younger son has now applied for Glenamara this year.
tbh all the accommodation I have seen at various unis are superior to anything we had years ago so try not to worry too much! Students are supposed to "slum it" a bit!!!
