If you are going to get married you are allowed to find out about each other you can talk face to face whats not allowed is sex before marriage
some Muslims might be strict and say dating is wrong because it leads to sex. But off course u can talk to each other online or face to face nothing wrong as long as it doesnt lead to sex.
