Compulsory education is weird and tyrannical

What right has the state to use the police to make people attend institutions?

You are on the right lines. It is to create a slave society whereby the few control the many.

Very true, there's no denying that.

I'm assuming you'll still expect your benefits to be paid without a functioning workforce?

Try reading a history book. The right to education has been a hard fought battle over the centuries

Benefits are an example of government control.

That usually easier with a less educated population.

It doesn't have such a right in England. As long as children receive an "efficient" education, there is no obligation to send them to school.

So you don't think there would be more of a power imbalance if an educated few were able to control an uneducated majority?

Glad to see someone saying this.

I've always believed that it's a form of child abuse.

The education system is the most ridiculously inefficient way of learning.
Some of the nonsense that some people think actually makes me sad

They have no right, people just need to wake up.

They're given the right when they're democratically elected

I agree, it's terribly slow and average and if you are reasonably smart, a lot of time is just wasted. But at least it is something, I suppose.

Well the commons are democratically elected, maybe I should have been more specific

It's essential and I believe the large majority of the electorate would want compulsory education for children

Learning is essential. Taking that out of the parents' hands is stupid.

Having seen some parents in the UK I'm glad that they aren't educating people. Education is, to an extent, in the hands of parents; they pick between different schools
