Staying in temporary hotel accomodation!?!

I should also add, I believe that there is some construction work going on to some accommodation. Some new fancy ones, so perhaps when that's done you guys will become it's first residents.

Yeah, I've been told that as well. When do you move in?

On the 27th, so will be missing the first night unfortunately

Sorry for the late reply!! Yup cheesychocolate has pretty much got it. The Ramada and Beales are literally quite literally, a few steps away from the De Hav campus literally a 5 minute walk, especially the Ramada. Travelodge is within a 10 minute walk next to amenities such as Aldi, Subway and a few other shops.

Mercure, is next to College Lane, a bit of a walk but it's absolutely fine as well. You will be placed in any of those four hotels.

If UH moves you in to halls it is a possibility that yes some students may drop out or for some other reason a room has suddenly become available. Reasons vary. I wouldn't worry too much about anything, I know it's a bit of a hassle. And don't worry ask as many questions as you please, we're all here to help :h:

Brill!
I'm just worried about freshers week as I would like to interact and attend some of them. Anyhow, do you know how long it usually takes to find a permanent accommodation? I've seen the houses in student housing but seems like I have to find people to move in with.

Thanks again for your help 😊

Ooooh, how long will the construction take though 😔 It would be awesome if that happened but let's not create high hopes haha

Same. Really wanted to go on the Saturday Welcome party. We'll have to mingle with the hotel gang. Have you bought any tickets yet?

You can still interact with freshers week just fine. Exactly how those in student halls will interact you will too, no difference tbh as you're still on campus. What I would say, when is your first day? Arrive, and make as many friends as possible, some students like to have flat/house parties during freshers so maybe you could go round and integrate.

In terms of finding housing, I think there may be a few Facebook pages set up for it so you could always just have a peek if it's not too late.

Hmmm that varies. One of the girls I know on my course was given temporary accommodation about a 20minute bus ride from uni and she didn't get student halls till about Christmas but like I said it depends. Really, don't worry and always keep in touch with the accommodation services.

A poster said it above so it reminded me that they were building new accommodation. The time scale of that I haven't a clue about so yes don't get your hopes up yet! But what is it that's worrying you about staying in a hotel?

I know it's all that they can do but it's just the lack of information about the hotel that worries me but
thank you so much for your help and advice! Appreciate it

Just don't feel the need to inform the press yet. We'll see how it goes
They asked us to bring crockery and kitchen utensils so does that mean we will have a kitchen?

Concering freshers week, I'll probably just lock myself in my room. I'm sadly not very social. Also don't drink so people may assume I'm a party pooper. I guess on the bright side I'd be saving loads of money.

I was confused about that. Hotel with a kitchen ? I guess we'll need it when we move out anyway.

It's your decision  but Freshers and partying isn't the only way of socialising. It's just about getting involved and making friends. I'm an introvert myself and never had a great interest in partying on a regular basis nor do I drink! I worked a lot this summer to save up so I'm going to spend it wisely, hopefully.
Omg I wws offered this bs accom at a hotel too!

I have stayed in Travelodge hotels a couple of times and I'm pretty sure none of their rooms have kitchens. Assuming it's the hotel were staying in. Kitchen do exist on some hotels though.

Well. That's true but I'm just never really good with making friends. I find it difficult to integrate with others so I don't see myself making one unless they initiate the conversation. To be fair, the hotel rent is very affordable so you can probably go all out on the first few weeks. Don't overdo it though.
If any of the hotel gang want to hang out tomorrow let me know
So who else wad greeted upon arival with a £180 bill for the temporary accommodation
