YESS i realized that too, but the grade boundaries for the recent years are sort of higher than the older ones
btw if u know the answer to this question pls send it here!!!
and could u pls tell me in which experiments when we use water bath and in which we use incubator or chamber..... i never know how to answer it like i cant diffrentiate between them
thanks x

We use an incubator whenever we are dealing with micro organisms.

We use the water bath for everything else. Ex: daphnia, mineral ion

alright, thanks x
What about tensile strength - they didn't accept water bath..

Hey guys!
How do we write the bibliography for unit 3? Is bibliography the same as 'reference'? Do you have any unit 3 notes you can help me with?

I need urgent help!
Thank you!

you have to write in this order:
1. Author's name (eg Anne Baker, then you should write like this Baker.A)
2. Year published must be in brackets
3. Article title
4. Journal title (in italics)
5. Journal volume followed by the issues no. in brackets
6. start and finish page no. of the article in the journal

what does it mean when it says missing reference from bibliography???

Thank you so much
But do you know how this changes if the source is a website and not a journal?

for example, the student didn't mention the year it was published or journal volume etc
I think when it's a website you include the URL, but I'm not quite sure how. Also, when writing The names of the others they should be in alphabetical order and if they are more then 3 authors. You write 3 author names and add "et al" which means "and others". I'm literally freaking out, any tips for question two?

Hey just a quick question. If they say comment on validity, what points do we make. Also what are some of the aseptic techniques?

validity in what context? if it is in an exp, all the variables should be controlled except the dependent and independent. independent is what we vary and dependent is affected by that variation. if another variable apart from the independent variable affects the dependent variable, then the exp is invalid.

swabbing the bench with 70% ethanol before and after the experiement. you are referring the the antibiotic exp yeah?

in some mark schemes they do. i think it depends on the context.
when they ask about variables that should be controlled for tensile strength, i recommend that you take the following:

For example, the experiment is investigating the tensile strength of fibres of different species

Soaking time
Must be constant for all samples at 15mins

Length of fibres
Cutting to the same length and measuring with a metre rule.

cross sectional area
measured with a micrometer screw guage and using fibres which have the same diameter

they would give a URL. thats pretty much it.

Thanks that helped
guys I have a feeling that the experiment will be on vitamin C.... can somone please mention the dependent, independent controlled variables and how to control them... also if we are needed to draw a graph on it is it one straight line of best fit or a line connecting every two points..
How do I choose the values for the Y-axis [The number of tests]??

Could someone also give me a list of examples of validity? Like for instance I know having a control is considered to be valid, peer review, what else??..

A bibliography is basically a list of all the references used in a journal or report, etc, and it is listed in alphabetical order.

I hope this helps  Best of luck
