Asked for Passport at job meeting?

so i cold emailed a company back in february for a placement and never heard back until a few days ago where they said they wanted someone to tart on a casual contract for the summer asap. i suited the hours they wanted the candidate to work and now theyve asked me to meet them on friday to discuss it and bring my passport.

does this mean theyve decided to take me or is it an uncommon standard of a job interview? i asked her to tell me which it was but she had forwarded me onto the head boss and she was the one who ignored the last email and asked me to bring along my passport and my cv when i offered it.

ah thanks, never been asked before so i thought id check
They have to check, so its just sooner rather than later. It means they will consider taking you on and this saves time. Imo you should refrain from asking those questions as it makes you look impatient. She doesnt have to tell you, just get them to offer you the job.

Very normal. Has happened for every job interview I've been to in the past 10 years.
