Does this mean telling someone who is more senior than you what to do?

If so, yes I do it daily and yes I have to or else the place will fall apart.

More like managing a relationship with a senior member of staff, so their autocratic leadership doesn't go overboard. About challenging them creatively, to put your points across.

I guess being a true fox in the work place..

Yeah I challenge people but only because I know the systems and processes better than most people in my workplace, so I can usually make their job easier
