I found out what council housing was on TSR

Really? If so, I'd suggest you go out and get some experience of the real world before advising the OP on matters such as these.

Are you at uni? Because in theory it all sounds possible, but concretely trust me that it's not enough.

I am at uni yes and I can survive off £15 a week for food
With £55 a week you could have a banquet every night!

OK - Maybe not quite a banquet. but you will definitely be able to live comfortably. I went on MySupermarket and added up the total cost of shopping on an average basket of food, cleaning products etc. and it came to just shy of £25.

Transport at Nottingham seems cheap too - Bus is £1 with a student MANGO card I think.
nottingham is cheap and I'm actually a student there so I have found it pretty reasonable. A bus pass is about 200 a year and you can get basically unlimited travel everywhere

So hopefully I'll be off to Nottingham and altogether my student loan is about £7813. I've worked out that if I want to have decent savings at the end of the year I'll have to live off £55 a week. I'm slightly worried about course costs though, considering I'll be studying English and French so I'll need to buy loads of books.

I'm hoping to get a part time job at university but before I do start to, is it possible to live on £55 per week?

Assuming that doesn't include rent, yes it's possible with careful budgeting.

I'm getting experience on TSR, that's why I'm here, because it's the best place to learn about the less privileged.

A lot of the normal busses are £1 and all you need to provide is your student card I think you use a mango card like a prepaid pass i.e put money on it
I found I could save a lot more than I'd have expected per year by finding my books online lol. Easily saved me ~$1000 a year. Good luck
RE: books. I found quite a few of them online in PDF format for free. Know what to google for!

How is it bad that I want to be socially aware? You should praise me for doing this. Most of my friends would call someone earning 40k poor.

Nope. If you wanna socialise with the rugby lads you'll have to fork out considerably more on drink

Please don't patronise him, otherwise he will show you evidence of the fake watch, fake toy boat and an empty champagne bottle - all of which his mummy bought him

I find it very insulting that you say I'm the kind of person who would buy fake stuff. Is it so difficult to believe that there are better off people than you?
I think this person is an elaborate troll
