Retake maths a level

If I retake jus the a level course / year 13...c4/s2 for maths
would it be the old spec or the new spec
This is if I retake it next year. Did edexecl old spec
If it changes next year and you would do the exam set for that year you would be doing the new spec

If you pay to retake the exams as a private candidate you can be entered for the old specification unit exams. Summer 2019 is the last opportunity to resit old specification maths exams. If you need to resit next year, sort out an exam centre as soon as possible next term. Most schools will not be entering candidates, will have no need to offer these exams and so will not accept private candidates for them. [resits for all subjects have been available in the year after the specification was replaced]

You talk about retaking the course, it is unlikely that you would be able to return to study the old specification units anywhere except the expensive private colleges that specialise in resits and accelerated A levels.

Also would u kno whether top tiers university’s will accept old spec maths if I apply next year?
Nd whether they accept resitters, although mine is only for a module or 2...
Top unis for me include Warwick Nottingham UCL Southampton Exeter etc
Again cheers in advance

They will certainly accept old specification maths. What their policy is regarding students who are retaking exams and therefore spreading results over more than 2 years will vary depending on course and university. The vast majority don't have an issue with it, you will have to check the specific courses you are applying for directly with the university.

When you get your results, ask your current school if they will let you resit if you need to. EDEXCEL have guidance for private candidates on their web site including how to find a centre but you may find yourself googling or phoning local schools and colleges to ask.
