Hi everyone! I was put up a year at school and I’m planning on going to uni this September. I really want to go but I’m worried about the age restrictions of not being 18. Can anyone tell me how much of a problem this will be and how it could affect my social time there. Thank you x
Im glad that my 18th birthday is on the 14th of september xddd But tbh, Im not from England, and I was told that people there take the age restriction seriously, so IDK, but for me it would make sense if they let you in clubs
I'd advise taking a gap year so you can go in when you're 18. Maybe get a full-time job to get some savings. That way you'll go in old enough to do all that fun student stuff while also needing to take out way less of a loan.

Would it be worth getting a fake ID ? I’d still go and enjoy your time there Leeds is a great city

I'd highly recommend you go because you seems excited for uni. In Scotland most nightclubs and unions will still let you in but you will be provided with a different colour of band or stamp so you can't but drink/alcohol, don't know about England. As for age wise I know of students who are 16/17 and they get on perfectly well. This is because in Scotland we get to start uni a year early and also you can enter into the year above depending on your age. I recommend also maybe emailing the university and asking about your situation.
I would advise you to take a gap year too as someone else stated earlier. Use it to fully explore the the things that you might wanna get into so you can exhaust all the options and youll definitely know what you wanna do in the future, earn that extra cash, do some volunteering etc. But ofc if youre dead set on going to uni now theres no one stopping you.
No it wouldn't. Most clubs have scanners nowadays so as soon as the bouncers see it's fake, they'll take it off the OP and that's £50+ down the drain.
Just I suggestion The scanners aren’t always the most accurate for detecting fakes and by fake I meant buy someone’s who looks like them not have one made as that’s risky But yeah only an idea

One of my flatmates was 17 for the first three months of his first year. He made friends, had an awesome social life, and got good grades. The only problem he had was that he could not get into any place that required proof of age, work in the bar or buy alcohol/cigarettes. His parents also had to give him consent to live in accommodation. I do not think this will affect you too much as there are plenty of opportunities to socialise outside of clubs that request ID proof. You will not miss out on that much, to be honest. Either way, you will still have time to go to night clubs and get the full student experience in your second and third year.
It sounds like you really want to go to university this year, so my suggestion is for you not to mind those minor restrictions and go to university. Look on the bright side; if you go to university in September, you will be 20 years old when you will graduate, which means that you could get a head-start in terms of work experience in comparison to other people your age!

Making me sound really not rebellious at all... I just waited until I was 18 before going clubbing etc ... Or got my mum to buy my booze for parties.
