Hi,
I have also applied for social work at bath, Leeds, DMU, Bristol and Bournemouth. Currently I haven't received any offers for social work but Bournemouth has given me an offer to study criminology instead. I would love to become friends and who knows we could end up in Leeds studying social work.

Hi although I have t applied to Demontford, how long is the average wait time for social work interviews or when do they start giving them out? Am I at a disadvantage being only 18? And do you have any interview tips?

Omg! Would you mind telling me about the Nottingham interview afterwards?? Are you 18??
Can I just ask, what do you all aspire to be (career wise) after uni?

do you all want to become a social worker?
I hope to eventually study CBT in post graduate.

Social work is unique, as it allows you be a certified social worker after your course. Then you can specialise into mental health sw for example.

Yes of course I want to be a social worker after my degree, it gives me a direct qualification by Social work England which is very good

My mum is a house manager and she spends her days looking after the tenants who live in the sheltered accommodation, I love speaking with the people. Although this hasn’t given me direct motivation, I’ve know I’ve always wanted to work somehow with people directly, and reading a few books and wat Hong a few tv shows has kinda shown me how being a social worker, you get the opportunity to help people and intervene and try to change peoples direction for the better. I first wanted to study sociology and social policy, and I was wondering what to do after my degree, after a bit of research h I realised that in order to become a social worker I would propose need to do a training course for about 2 more years. That would mean I would effectively be in education for a further 5 years, which is not really what I want, so when I discovered I could do social work and live on campus and get a degree which satisfy my needs and would allow me to effectively secure me a job post-qualification I knew social work would be for me.

hi there, the average wait time is 4 - 5 weeks, and at DMU we have started to contact people with slots for interviews.

I cant see why you would be disadvantaged.. would it help for you to attend our open day and then you can pose these types of questions directly to the teams?

I have attached a link to the open day: https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-study/open-days/open-days.aspx?gclid=Cj0KCQiAw_H-BRD-ARIsALQE_2Mha7iAm-Cola2eYC5Y78TCBoaMNkGDV4uS35k_UeLFdrTo-wNxmYQaAoaMEALw_wcB

There are lots of interview tips on our website and attached some relevant information: https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-study/interviews/interview-advice.aspx

good luck with your applications!

Hi
I don’t know if this helps but I sent my application around October and DMU replied back to me in December so it does take a while. I personally think that you are in a better position than me because of your age you might have more experience and for social work they do look for that. The course is so competitive it will take a while.

hi there

the average time is 2/3 weeks and we start giving them as soon as is possible, as we understand how frustrating the wait can be

I cant see age being a barrier, all university courses are about competencies and working hard to succeed!

good luck !

Heyy, idk if you’ll see this but I applied to basically every uni that you did, I didn’t get any offers yet but I have an interview with Birmingham university and I also have a written assessment to do for Nottingham Trent university. I’m pretty nervous but I’ll manifest that we’ll both get it
