Aspiring to join the medicine field

Hello to this nice forum I been watching for a while now.
I'm Greek and I arrived to UK at May 2019, since then I been busy settling in and getting things right and I really want to start up and go to school or college I'm not sure how things are really here. Problem is I stopped my Greek school at 14 years old (I'm 19) and done nothing till now.
Does someone know what should I be looking for or any hints on taking the path to become a surgeon?

I'm guessing you do not have GCSEs or iGCSEs since you stopped going school at 14.

First thing you will need to do is sit your GCSEs privately, where you do need at least a 6 in Maths, English Language and Sciences.

Then you will have to sit you A-Levels, where you do need to try and get 3 A's. I would recommend doing Biology and Chemistry as 2 of the three A Levels as it does open a lot more door in terms of where you can apply. I would also recommend getting some work experience in the field.

To apply to med school you will need to apply through UCAS and write a personal statement as well as sitting either UCAT, BMAT or both. If you're only going to sit one then I would recommend doing UCAT as a lot more universities accept UCAT.

If everything goes well, you will be invited to an interview at the universities and passing that you will be given a conditional offer of AAA at A Levels.

Medical School in the UK is usually 5 years long and after finish medical school you will become a junior doctor (FY1).

Once you complete FY1 you start FY2 and receive full GMC registration. After completing FY2 you can apply for your specialisation, in your case surgery.

You need to check whether your Greek qualifications and grades are at the level required by medical schools. they may well be - if not determine what you need to do.

What is your funding status for both admissions and fees? UK medical schools are harder to get into as an international student than for UK students.

Once I find a place to inquire I will of course ask if my education done back then can count as a step to move forward here. Im employed for over a year now and got a settlement status. Thank you very much for your reply.
