He’s conservative!!

It was going so well with this guy I’m chatting to. Like him quite a bit. Then he said he’s a conservative!!

I’m so put off. Is it possible to have something casual with such differing beliefs? Could you stand it? I don’t know what to do.

What's wrong with having different political views?

Surely your entire worldview and social values are embedded in your political views
It wouldn't be for me anyway. I can deal with differing views, but not really those I openly despise.

I don't see it as a problem if it isn't an extreme view.

You know the conservative party are typically the most supported party in the UK, and disproportionately so amongst males.

Despite Twitter depicting every Tory voter as a bigot, it’s really a very wide platform. Basically anyone who supports limited government/free market/low taxation or even frankly people who invest in property or commodities are likely to vote conservative.

It’s genuinely very judgmental to pinhole someone purely on the basis of being “conservative”, is every UK lefty a reincarnation of Castro or mao...

He's conservative or a Conservative; which is it, as they are 2 different things?
I don’t like Conservatives but I just know he’s fit.
Yes- it is possible to date and have a serious relationship with someone that has totally different political views.
I've dated guys from all over the political spectrum.
SWP, DUP, Lib Dems, Sinn Fein, Conservatives, Fianna Fáil and usa's Republican Party.
Sometimes opposites attract.
Have you tried dumping him like a sack of potatoes?
I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to want to date someone who shares similar values (which is related to your political views).
but yes, I would have something "casual" with someone who identifies as a "conservative".

Depends how serious your political views are to you, personally I wouldn't be able to date someone supporting classist or racist rhetoric because I have pride in my working class identity, but for others it would simply be a topic to avoid.
I personally could never date a tory because they are supporting a government who:

Only care about the wealthy and follow the "make the rich richer and the poor poorer mentality".
Don't follow the rules that they themselves make.
Don't take responsibility for their actions.
Clearly don't care about anyone but themselves.
Lie, lie and lie.

I could honestly go on tbh but the government is so corrupt and anyone who disagrees is blind.

A lot of people who spend too much time on twitter, reddit and snapchat actually believe this. :sigh:

Just as a lot of people who spend too much time on gab, parlor and telegram genuinely believe that people who support the uk Labour Party or usa Democratic Party are socialist supporters of Stalin, Mao & Dracula. :sigh:
