We have boardgame nights between a few different houses when I'm university. Its a good way of getting drunk and passing time without going out into town. So we save moneys too =)

i don't think people have stopped playing board games, i think it's that we've grown up now. i'm 18 and i know for certain my sister wasn't playing board games at 18, it's not because of computer games e.c.t but probably because board games are aimed at children really. if i was 8, i'd still be playing board games and computer games too.
There's only a handful of good board games. Cluedo, Scrabble, Chess, Monopoly.. I'd say 95% of board games are garbage. Usually end up playing them when down at the nans. They're great fun to play but nobody else either likes playing them or if they do enjoy them somehwat (like me) they'd rather be doing other stuff instead anyway.
Chess for me

We occasionally break out the Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Cluedo, Scrabble, Battleships and Star Wars Monopoly
I find that Board Games are so much more intense when I am intoxicated.

The amount of time I have played Monopoly and Cluedo this Christmas....

Did anyone else play a hugely complicated board game set during the hundred years war called Joan of Arc? So many pieces and tokens and counters and coins and cards and complicated rules, it went on for hours and I loved it.

Sadly over the years we have lost many of the model castles that are integral to it, and Amazon has never heard of it.

I get bored of board games that are too simple I think.

I play monopoly

Spoiler

There are things that even if old, they never get obsolete, many board games included.
Monopoly, Scrabble, Chess and Risk are always great. Sorry is an old family favourite and Pictionary gets pulled out most Christmas/New Year times. I'm also fairly into Warhammer, which is tabletop rather than board game but in the end it still involves rolling dice and pushing pieces of plastic around
Well I'm literally just back from a fairly regular get together I have with friends where we spend the entire day eating junk food and playing board games =P Not like the traditional scrabble and whatever everyone else is bringing up though...

Personally I'm pretty good at "Citadels" :colone: "Giza" is pretty good for a laugh, it's really short and fast paced and it's hilarious when people start picking on each other =P We tried one called "Kill doctor lucky" today too, which is pretty much backwards Cluedo :mmm:

Scrabble and mother****ing Pictionary :colonhash:
They definitely are becoming a thing of the past but its a real shame coz there's something about a good game of Scrabble that u dont get from any computer based game, apart from the fact it involves 2 human beings facing each other across a table without any gadgets to distract them. So Ill stick up 4 scrabble all th way!
