i reckon some of us should perhaps create little groups to go out together during Freshers Week? what do people think?

I reckon that's a brilliant idea. We could have a TSR Freshers get-together.

ooi, where's your offer for and where are you from in watford?

I'm doing Biology at UCL but they haven't given me an accommodation offer yet :frown: I'll probably have to end up sleeping in a cardboard box in Trafalgar Square or something.

I'm from west Watford, near the football stadium. I spend most of my time in Shakeaway in the town centre though....their milkshakes are lush!

Me neither...I may be joining you.

That's ok. I'll charge you £105 per week to rent the spare room in my box.

Not really. You'll have to tell me if you want friends over, I'll have to make myself scarce.

I wouldn't worry too much about not knowing anyone!

I've just graduated from Essex and went there not knowing anyone but you be surprised how many people are in the same boat as you. Even if you don't drink or like to party much it really doesn't matter!

I'm going to be doing an MSc so this isn't new to me.But i reckon some of us should perhaps create little groups to go out together during Freshers Week? what do people think?

I'm certainly up for it! Maybe make a group on Facebook?
I'd really like too, even though I'm confused about freshers include postgrads. Here in Brazil you only get all the fresher's stuff if you're an undergrad, for postgrads it's like you don't need it anymore or stuff...can someone explain me how it works?

I'll be at James Lighthill, hoping to get together to attend to all the fresher's stuff =)

I know I'm worried too, and I'm sure there are loads of us in the same boat. Just be glad you're not moving in on your birthday! It's 4.5 hour drive down to London for me.

It will all probably end up being one of those things where you get as much out as you put in! I don't feel there's any point in panicking, as long as you're prepared to socialise and talk to people..then things should be fine.

I went to a massssssive sixth form college, and I found that I just had to get stuck in there and take an interest in people to make friends! I mean, I met one of my best friends there by striking up a conversation about the French Grammar book she had next to her.

I guess that college/uni are different, but I reckon if you're willing to throw yourself out there, you should be fine

I think people here are generally either too cynical or need to step up a bit on their confidence.
I am being utterly mentally deficient but does anyone know here to find out the freshers events? I have found one list but it looks rather small and I frankly find facebook utterly confusing. Thanks

You should receive a freshers welcome pack in the post in the next couple of weeks, with all the details.

Consider yourself lucky, it's about 6 hours for me! I live all the way up in Newcastle :frown:

Are you moving in on the sat or sun? My birthday is on the Sunday! Hence a Saturday move:yep:

Are you turning 18 or 19?
19
My b-day is on the 24th, seems we're all gonna be on the celebration mood!

I'm turning...well..23. If you call me old say goodbye to your fingers
I will *know* like two people I used to be in classes with - one from secondary school and one from college. I don't think they'll be desperately clinging to me though. :p:

I am more worried as I don't like clubbing or huge dancing party type things and everyone else seems to. It would suck if everyone around me was into all that because I really don't want to have to go through that, even for the sake of freshers' week.

Edit. I bet I've already posted that in this thread and now look like a bit of a ******.

Edit. I haven't. Oh well, I still look like a ******.

P.S.: Anyone who doesn't mind someone incessantly self-deprecating about?
