:lolwut: I have never studied psychology. Infact the subject that i intend to study in September is in the "Top Tier". Doesn't stop me from realising the table is stupid though

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, please move it mods if needs be.

Hi, I just came across this funny image on the internet, and wanted a little chat about it:

I'm sure y'all can figure out what the censored word is, I just had edit that so I wouldn't risk getting warned, lol.

Anyway, I can't believe the image maker put subjects like English, History and Philosophy in the **** tier. I know they're probably not as respected as the Science subjects, but I thought they were still pretty respected in their own right. I guess everyone has their own opinions though. Discuss.

(God-tier is game slang, explained here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CharacterTiers)

economics should be in god tier, political science in top tier.

waheyy! im doing chemistry.
Yaaas, top tier :p:

I think the while tier classification system is absoloute ********... I really have a strong disdain for scientists who think they are more intellectual than other people involved in a profession which isn't science. Such synicism and elitism shouldn't exist... Some of the people I consider the most articulated and intelligent I've ever met are writers, historians etc...

Plus, the majority of people I meet who often agree with the table tend to be lacking in other areas eg. Crap social skills, inabillity to get laid etc...

Newton had terrible social skills.

I'm a scientist but science only gives you certain skills. I think it's damn important and incredibly useful but it's by no means the only discipline worth doing.

And when people say it's 'harder' than other subjects, in most case it's true. But that's for most people. For some people, science is actually easy and other subjects are harder.

Oh gawd...
I get tired of this when it's pops up on /b/, and then someone decides to repost it on TSR :shifty:.

It's an arbitrary rating that's designed to troll the 'liberal arts fags'. How would you even construct such a table?
Academic purity: Maths and Philosophy win.
Job Prospects: Medicine wins.
Respect from cab drivers: Physics and Law win.

I'm sick of great people being slated for stupid stuff like this. Maybe he was depressed so didn't feel like socialising, or socialising just didn't interest him. Doesn't mean he was any less intelligent. Social skills are basic, and pretty much anyone could socialise effectively.

I reckon economics is low, astronomys high, laws a bit low, and geology is high. Then theres the arts subjects to sort out. Its all a load of rubbish anyway; theres not really one objective ranking which this is based on.
The list makes more sense than all the other stuff on /sci/

OhNO!
Is this actually off 4chan? Not /b/? Because this is lame, even coming out of that tiny hivemind.

I saw it a month ago on 4chan and it was from /sci/, explains it all. Made me lol a little though.

To you they're basic but to other people they come much harder. Which was my point.

And Newton was, by all accounts, quite a nasty character. There are stories of him revelling in the 'joys' of public executions. He was though, of course, an amazing genius.

Me socialising more than Newton has nothing to do with me being more intelligent in any way though. If, as you say, he was an arse, that was probably why he didn't socialise: he didn't like people or get anything from them. I'm sure he could've socialised very effectively if he'd wanted to, and if he couldn't, that'd be down to his feelings rather than his intelligence
