i don't think there is a correlation between beuty and intelligence. If that was the case youe would assume everyone at oxbridge was dog ugly. I think there is this geek image that has appeared in loads of american tv shows anyone remeber "saved by the bell". What i think is quite unfortunate is when you have people that look like total geeks but are actually not clever. They can't even make themselves feel better by feeling more inteligent than most people. Its quite tragiic really.

I have a friend who's very, very intelligent, excellent at sports, excellent at music, well great at everything! And, she is very, very pretty. There is not a single guy in my class who hasn't been attracted to her.

To prove that she is intelligent, she's been accepted into Harvard.

She is proof that there is no correlation between intelligence and ugliness. In fact, all the very pretty girls in my class tend to be the smartest ones.
...

wouldnt this prove there WAS correlation between intelligence and ugliness?

more specifically; the uglier you are, the less intelligent you are.

There are always exceptions obviously, but I do think that overall the more intelligent girls (to a certain degree) and boys are, the uglier they are likely to be. I go to a Grammar school, so we all had to pass a competitive exam to get in and I'd say that my year as a whole was intelligent. Yet from chatting to the girls in my year, there are clearly far more ugly boys than good looking or normal looking boys and out of the girls none are especially beautiful. Perhaps my school is just full of ugly people? Or perhaps I have strange standards. Calista Flockhart is beautiful, in her own quirky way and she did have a eating disorder for anyone who didnt think so.

I would also like to add that the more socially inept you are the more likely you are to be ugly and often the most socially inept are the clever pupils who choose to study than socialise.

If someone could post a pic of someone who is intelligent and beautiful that would be good, because then we could debate whether they are actually beautiful.

I would post my own pic, but self-promotion is so unnecessary.

isn't it mainly because the ones who are intelligent are also the ones who work hard, and they find studying more important than the way they look

My mate Vicky is absolutley GORGEOUS long blonde hair, tall, slim boobs and and all. Been asked to model but nope she is off to do something like Nuclear Psychics or something equally as complex at Cambridge

I think Nuclear Psychics would be very interesting.

Trying to think of examples here, but unfortunately you usually know someone for being either smart or inteilligent, and don't know much about the other aspects of their character.

Known for brains, but also (IMHO) gorgeous: Joao Magueijo

Known for beauty but apparently v. intelligent: Natalie Portman

Who is Joao Magueijo?

He's a theoretical physicist. Google him and you'll find everything you need to know. He wrote a book called "Faster than the Speed of Light" and he works at Imperial.

Actually here's a couple of links:

His hompepage: http://theory.ic.ac.uk/~magueijo/

Quite a nice photo of him: http://frontwheeldrive.com/joao_magueijo.html

Hope these work

Her name's Kim Baskerville, not Pam. I do not say this in a stalkery way, I would like to point out. She is mentioned in the book, and published a pater with him which you can get on his site on the Big Bang Riddles.

Haha, yeah well done with that. Don't think there's any law against knowing your teachers first name.

That's all good and well, and I appreciate the intelligence of your post (not saying you're ugly). But I think there are more people I consider ugly than beautiful, I have pretty high standards really. Please someone show me some beautiful intelligent women.
Well, as I said. If you considder 25% to be beautiful and 10% percent to be inteligent (If you ask me the latter is a great overestimate) then you have already limited yoruself to 2,5% of the population. Add on that you are probably only interested in one sex, then you are down at 1,25% of teh population. No wonder peopel find it difficult to find the perfect boy/girl friend!!!

Try Lincolnshire as a control group for any studies regarding intelligence and ugliness.
All I'll say is that it is an anthropologist's paradise and the human archaeology is all above ground.
