I have offer for Accountancy from Coventry University. Why do you say don't do it? Is it too hard?

It seems to me that you are a bit desperate to get in to uni to any course. This decision should not be rushed and you should only take the offer if you are commited and serious about accounting not just because pharmacy didn't work out.

I do accounting at college, which is/was a top 25 in the country. Still only around 40% of people got C or above. I am thinking that degree level will be even harder. I would suggest that you take AS accounting to know the basic level which will benefit you at uni. However this is not a neccessity. You have knowledge about pharmacy which you won't use.

As for Coventry I would say do research on this incredibly usefull website

I'm in need of some help too...I've got a choice of de montfort or winchester (for politics)
Im not sure where to go. I live near leicester so i'd save money going to dmu and I could live at home, and I have some friends at dmu already...
or winchester which i do quite like but it is rather far away from where i live and i wouldnt have much money.... I'd also miss my family but wouldnt be able to afford to go home at visit them much...only at holidays... I'm also worried that I'll be stuck with roommates i hate....
I feel like i want to move out and everything, but I've already dropped out of uni once and cant do it again...

Hi. Personally DMU is one of my local uni's along with Leicester. Which uni you choose should depend on different things:

1) THE COURSE/UNI - Different uni's specialise in different courses. I'm not too sure about Winchester, but I know that DMU have a good business school which would be advantageous if you are studying accounting/finance/business/economics... In terms of reputation I feel that they are similar if not DMU being slightly higher in my opinion. Also go to open days to see the uni. You can also see where you may be living and maybe even able to choose who you want to stay with.

2) LOCATION - This seems to be very important to you. If you want to study at DMU because it is closer to home than that is OK. I intend to study away from home in another city. I know I will feel lonely to start, but know that I will soon make friends and am sure that you will too. You say that you won't be able to visit your family but you can stay in touch through e-mails and text. If you have a webcam/smart phone than you can see and talk to each other aswell.

3) FEES - I know money is tight and you don't have too much to spend, but you can get alternative finance. If your parents earn under a certain amount
you are entitled to loans/grants which can help. If this is still not enough than you can get a job which can pay money and give you experince
.
However to make a more informed decision I will need information on your:

Grades/offer
Specific name of degree and length (does it say "Politics" on UCAS?)
Career choice
and if you want to show than your family income which I can use to work out the money.

What ever you do I hope everything goes well

P.S Can I have your opinion of this thread. Thanks

I think you should've looked into clearing courses more thoroughly, my friend got into Kent to do MPharm with the grades BBC :s-smilie:
I've applied to dmu through clearing (I got a verbal offer for international relations and politics (I wanted journalism and politics but there wasn't any places and I still have to opportunity to get experience via the student news paper and do postured journalism)

As for your thread I'd personally keep the subject that you love because you'll be more likely to study harder and if you love it as much as I loved doing alevel RE then you'll learn so much from it in regards to yourself and real life... I had the chance of studying alevel environmental science that I'd have got a really good grade in or RE something I got a slightly worse grade in but loved so much and learnt alot from...
