I LOVE Mackinder.. & theres new halls called - Stenton Townhouses.. which look absolutely insane! - like wow! I might just consider firming Reading then..
I'd rather be pissed off with myself for applying to a BBB course and getting ABB and ending up in the BBB place because I firmed it and have the accommodation I want.. RATHER than Insuring Reading and slipping and not getting my firm and end up at Reading with **** accom.. ? If you get me?
The only ''**** accom'' at Reading is Sibly, and that is being knocked down at the end of this year
The facilities in all the other halls are perfectly fine. The 2 you mentioned are the most modern and newly built so of course they will be popular, thats no different from any other university. Basing your firm choice purely on that is a really stupid thing to do because it doesn't guarentee you a place in either hall.

My Firm was going to be Birmingham :') and insure Reading - all depends on my results in March though ! wbu?
I've got an interview on the 22nd. The course I'm applying for is Primary Education with specialism in Music, anyone else currently doing this or applying for it? Nervous hehe
Hi, I got an offer from both Reading University and East Anglia for History and International Relations, I can't choose between the two. Reading is great location, I've heard campus is nice, so life there is really good. But East Anglia seems a better university? HELP?
Also, I live in Greece so I can't visit the two unis -Francesca
But I really want nice halls if I end up at Reading..
You should think positive If you're firming the other then you must thinkn you have a good chance of getting there Even if you end up at Reading you may have a chance to move into an empty room...or find that you love the people you are put with and not want to move

I'm also applying for History, and I picked Reading because I thought the course was fantastic. The lecturers were so enthusiastic on the Open Day that I just thought 'Right, this is where I'm going!' Hope that helps

The only problem with the History course here is that the contact hours are non existant. I have so much free time i don't know what to do with it

Firm conditional offer from Reading (ABB) for Speech and Language Therapy, looking at either Wessex or Mackinder depending on my financial situation :') although I'm not massively keen on shared bathrooms, Wessex is a lot closer to where all of my lectures will be, for £160 less expensive a month, it should work out fine!

Sharing a bathroom isn't that bad, honest! The bathrooms get cleaned everyday and I've never known anyone on my corridor having to wait for a shower. It's all about personal choice really. It's really great having your own ensuite, but if you're looking to save money and use it on other things, e.g books...alcohol...rubber ducks etc etc, sharing a bathroom is a good place to cut down on money.

Ensuite is a complete waste of money. Think of it like this - the money you save in first term will pay your housing deposit for 2nd year.
At the beginning I was attracted to Stenton, Mackinder and the new Child's hall but after reading what a lot of people have wrote I'm really tempted to choose Wessex as my number one, as having a much better social life is more important than having all the nice facilities, especially in the first year. I live in a modern house where everything is all shiny and new and it hard for me to imagine living somewhere not like that, as I don't know if it would feel 'homely' to me, but apart from that I love the idea that everyone knows each other and that the corridors are open for going to see friends
Hopefully I can get a look around on my visit day on the 17th of march, they might also have something to show us about Child's hall too...
ahhhhhh deciding which accommodation is right for me is so hard! anyone else in the same boat?

I'm not too fussed on luxuries either. Whichever has the best social life will do me. I cannot apply until May so i'll worry about the halls nearer the time.
